This 30-minute express class is all about the pull up! Whether you can't do any or you want to increase your rep count, this class is for you!

This class is NOT 30 minutes of pull ups. We practice static hangs, extended push ups, kettelbell work, farmers carry and more! There is recommended homework that will help get you to your goals faster.

What is C4 Strength?

C4 Strength is a 60-minute strength based class that primarily uses barbells and dumbbells. 

Each week will include hybrid of the FinksMethod programming, combining Stabilization, Endurance, Hypertrophy (muscle building), Max Strength or Power. Sets, repetitions and intensity is planned for each class. This class is excellent for clients looking to add traditional strength into their fitness regime and is suitable for beginner and advanced clients. This can be a stand alone fitness program or combined with any of our other classes to round out your full week of workouts.

What is C4 Maximus?

Let's get those glutes high and tight! C4 Maximus is a 30-minute express class focusing on the glutes and hips using primarily bands and bodyweight for resistant.

If you’re looking to focus on this area one to two days per week we got you covered! Check it out every Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm. You can even pair it with a C4 Strength or C4 Madness class (they are scheduled immediately prior and after).

What is C4 Madness?

C4 Madness is our signature unconventional training class. We primarily use kettlebells, steel maces, steel clubs, battle ropes and bodyweight. Every class is broken up into four 10-minute quadrants with 3-minutes of recovery between each, allowing clients to go at their own pace.

Within each 10-minute quadrant you will be given a select set of exercises with a set number of repetitions. You will continue to move through each exercise with minimal rest between until the 10-minutes is up. This class is an excellent resource for improving your functional training, cognitive skills, strength and cardio.

Originally the C4 in ‘C4 Athlete’ was just a reference to the explosive. We liked it because it was short and memorable. As time has passed and we have been asked ‘What does C4 stand for?’ we realized it should mean something more…

We introduce the four pillars of C4!

  2. Community: a feeling of fellowship with others as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests and goals.

  3. Consistency: willingness to give your time and energy to something you believe in.

  4. Courage: strength in the face of pain or grief

What is Unconventional Training?

Unconventional Training is defined by the types of tools used during the workout and how those tools are implemented. The most common unconventional training tools are the kettlebell, steel mace, steel club and battle ropes. Some other tools to consider are sandbags, medicine balls, suspension trainers, sandbells and even your own bodyweight.

Each of these tools require your body move in a way that challenges multiple muscle groups at one time. They can be used independently or together to create a masterpiece of a workout! In our signature C4 Madness class we use multiple tools in each class exposing your body to new movements that you will not get from conventional dumbbell/barbell split routines.

These dynamic exercises challenge both your body and your brain! Your cognitive function is definitely going to improve. You may even be able to scratch your head and rub your belly while chewing gum ;) In addition, you will feel an increased range of motion in your joints, enhanced mobility and a significantly stronger core.

C4 Madness typically burns more fat per workout because you are using both the aerobic and anaerobic systems in one workout. What does that mean? Heart rate goes up and you perform some exercises without oxygen, heart rate recovers and you perform other exercises with oxygen. The average calorie burn per class according to our clients is 500 to 600 cals per hour class.

Is C4 Athlete CrossFit?

The short answer is “No”. The longer version is “We are better than CrossFit”. How can we so confidently say so? Because our unconventional style of training and implementation of unique fitness tools are combined to create the best functional fitness programming offered in the industry today. Ask our clients. They will be eager to agree.

C4 Athlete is Houston’s only unconventional training facility. What makes us unconventional? The types of tools we use and how we implement those tools into our signature C4 Madness class. We utilize the steel mace, steel club, kettlebells, battle ropes, suspension trainers, medicine balls and your very own bodyweight. These are the tools that define functional training today and will continue to do so for the next 10-20 years.

The steel mace is the ultimate full body conditioning tool. The mace holds most of its weight at the head, resulting in an uneven distribution of weight. This engages the smaller stabilizing muscles around our joints which will increase your core and rotational strength.

The steel club can be used to train all aspects of fitness, including strength, conditioning, and balance. They are also an excellent addition to more traditional methodologies like barbell training, allowing you to enhance your functional capabilities through full body exercises.

A kettle bell workout and/or exercise can achieve total-body fitness, increase cardiovascular health, strengthen your core and improve your posture and balance.

Battle Ropes work the muscles in your arms, abs, back, and glutes. You can even incorporate movements, such as jumps, lunges, and squats, that work your legs and increase your cardiovascular conditioning.

Suspension Training uses straps that allow you to work against your own bodyweight. They are excellent for building overall strength, improving balance, increasing core engagement and much more.

Medicine Balls are used to increase strength and power depending on how we program them into our classes.

Bodyweight training is always available and the possibilities of exercises are endless. We bodyweight train for mobility, strength, endurance and power. Bodyweight is the perfect complement to the steel mace, steel club and kettlebell.

So, why are we better than CrossFit? Because we train to execute your highest level of functional fitness. We train to increase mobility, injury prevention, improve cognitive function, core strength, rotational end ranges and overall durability. In fact, we complement CrossFit workouts and vice versa. They do what we don’t and we do what they don’t have.
